Board Of Trustees 2019-2020
My name is Lauri J. Laughland and I am the President of the board. I was first introduced to Unity 23 years ago and have been a member of Unity Temple on the Plaza since that time. I became a member of Unity at the Lake in 2018 after attending for several years. I strongly believe in the Unity principles, the law of attraction, and the power of positive thinking! I enjoy reading books by the authors that espouse these principles. After becoming an adult, I learned that my grandmother received and read the Daily Word many years ago.
I graduated from Center High School in Kansas City, where I was active in sports and many organizations. I then earned a degree in journalism at Mizzou and a law degree from UMKC.
I have had a general law practice in the Kansas City area for over 35 years and concentrate mainly in the areas of criminal law, domestic relations, and bankruptcy. I was awarded the national honor of acceptance into Women of Distinction Honors Edition for 2018. I was previously a member of the Board of Directors for the Jackson County Public Water Supply District Number 1, having been elected by the citizens to that position.
Currently, I live in Lee’s Summit with my partner, Janet, and dog, Scout. I enjoy spending time at the lake, boating, traveling, and avidly rooting for the Royals, World Champion Chiefs and Mizzou Tigers. I thank the church membership for the opportunity to serve on the board.

My name is Paula Talkin and I am the Treasurer of the board. I have been a member of Unity at The Lake for over eight years now. In that time, I have taken several classes on Unity principles. I would like the opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors.
For the last 33 years, I have worked in offices at both large and small companies performing a variety of office duties with an emphasis on Accounting/Bookkeeping. I believe my experience will be an asset as a member of the Board of Directors and look forward to serving in any way that may help.
My name is Judy Klueser and I am Secretary of the board. I have been attending Unity church since Rev. Jim Rosemergys’ first lesson in 2001. Since then nearly every class offered has been an opportunity for me to know God more and to grow my spirituality.
During these 17 years I have been fortunate to serve on the following; the Love In Action Ministry, The Choir, the Welcome Committee, Prayer Ministry, and leading the Women's group of Unity for several years. Along with my church family I have enjoyed assisting with special activities such as Circulation Day, fund raisers, yard and church clean up, and others.
As a board member, I will do my best in assisting our church so we may continue to be a blessing in the spiritual growth of our church family, our community and our world.
